FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
EX: The article cites Maria Nikolajeva, a professor of at Cambridge, as saying that Bella does not "in any way promote independent thinking or personal development" in women, instead portraying a woman "meek and willing to do anything for her vampire boyfriend" (POV).
The music teenagers listen to expose them to "about 35 references to substance abuse" which has been researched before (Pope).
Due to the fact that technology makes it easier to access music "children now have regular access to music out of the earshot of parents" (Pope).
With media being part of our daily lives it has show that it has an "impact on childhood risk behaviors" (Pope).
Even though we can't visually see music there is more "exposure to music" at "an average of 16 hours each week (Pope).
For some it depends solely on what kind of music you listen to, for example, "pop would be exposed to 5 references per day" while those "listen just to rap would be exposed to 251 references per day" (Pope).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

This article is written by Tara Parker-Pope who wrote about if Music influences behavior. Pope uses facts from studies to back up her point and to also solidify it. Her argument is that the music teenagers are exposed to contain references to drugs, sex, and alcohol.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

Tara Parker-Pope is an health author on New York times and has written books of her own. Training is not stated but she has been writing articles dating back to 2008.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

The author nor the site have anything to gain from this. This is only to inform maybe parents of the music their children are exposed to.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

There is no bias. She states a point of view on both sides stating both the negative and positive aspects of her topic.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author sites references from The Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine to give statistics.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

This will back up my point of view on my topic which is a negative effect of music that teenagers are exposed to.
