Hip hop was used just more than music but "a platform to speak our minds."
To most of these hip hop artists "music is sometimes a medication from reality."
For these Hip hop artists "it's about you and me, connecting one to one."
From a perspective, Hip Hop "created a lot of jobs that otherwise wouldn't exist."
In the early ages of Hip-Hop, some of the artists "spoke about issues in the world" which wasn't widely written about in music.

Interview

·        Do you think mainstream music affects the way teenagers make decisions?

·        How often do you listen to mainstream music on a daily basis? What artists or songs do you listen to?

·        What's your opinion on how music has changed over the past 10 years?

·        Do you think that mainstream music is has lost its meaning?

·        What do you think about artist such as Drake and Lil' Wayne and the music they produce?

·        In your perspective, does music changing the way people act?

·        Are there any things you would  change about the music today?

·        In your opinion, is music today very influential towards the younger audience?

1. Main stream music definitely effects the way teenagers make decisions. While listening to it, sometimes they might think that they can relate to the lyrics in the song & might be prone to making decisions based off the music; making them scream "YOLO!!" or gesture "Young, wild, & free!!" wherever they go. However, to be fair, it would also have to depend on the teenager itself.

2. On the real, I listen to mainstream music every time I turn on the radio. If I like the beat, if the song makes my head move back & forth then I'd most likely listen to the song at other places. I listen to Drake, Tyga, Chris Brown, etc...wait does Disney Song's count? Because I listen to those too sometimes..LOL

3. Music has really changed in the past decade. Music made your head nod because it had a meaning, a story, feelings, sometimes even what the certain artist went through in life. Nowadays, music is about drugs, sex, & money.

4. Hmm... well that would depend on the song. Some mainstream songs wouldn't loose meaning, such as songs from Adele, maybe even Bruno Mars. But, mainstream hasn't lost it's meaning. It's mainstream because the songs "are above ground" instead of it being it's counter part in music, "underground." Mainstream is simply mainstream..however, the songs & the number of amounts it's played make it tiring to listen to.

5. Well, Drake has a "keep it real, what I feel" kind of style. Such as in his recent album "Take Care", most of his songs are about what he feels, for example he "Hates Sleeping Along." Most of his songs are about women & his feelings toward them..but, that's my opinion.
Lil' Wayne however, has a "if it rhymes..I'll say it" kinda of style. His music is about weed, money, & women. He has a dirty style and, as I said before, if it rhymes..he'll say it. With lyrics such as "you ninjas suck like tony romo, no homo, when im all about my money i get paid for promo" ...yeah "nice one" Wayne..you're a "beast."
6. Yes, music does change the way people act. It's pretty simple, for example, imagine a room full of people with soft music playing, violin's churping, with the piano echoing, sounds like a ball. Now, keep the same room full of people, but change the music to "Rack City Chick"...and now?..people would be whipping their hair back & forth, women grinding everywhere...now it's a club.

7. I would change the messages in music nowadays. I would want it to be like Tupac's style, how we raps about respecting woman, changing the world, etc.

8. In my opinion, music today is ONLY influential to the younger audience, once teens get hooked on to something, they tend to keep it, such as Temple Run. Music goes through the ears & into the brain, so being influenced by music has a high possibility, especially to teens, nowadays everyone seems to be hyped up into YOLO.
But, as I said before..it would also have to depend of the teen..after all..it takes two to tango.

Those who listened to music such as “harp, piano, and synthesizer” experienced “less post-surgical pain” than people who didn’t listen to it.
After research on university students the “American Psychological society” has found that there is a “link between youth violence and violent media, including music.”

Oddly enough “sociology professor James Gundlach found higher rates of suicide among those who listen to country music.”
